Virtual Valentine Cardmaking Workshop

The point of this workshop is to relax, have fun, and enjoy the season where saying “I love you” to someone is just fine.

A message from Megan Humphrey, Owner of Sweet Basil Cards:

“I attribute my desire of making greeting cards to Captain Kangaroo. His was one of the few shows I was allowed to watch on TV as a kid. I can still hear the sound of scissors through construction paper as he would cut out shapes for an art project from his shoebox filled with supplies.

Originally, I began to make cards for family and friends based on vintage Valentines that date to the 1890’s. My cards were designed with layers of doilies, images, bits of ribbon, and embellishments. These days, I set up a collage with a vintage postcard as the centerpiece and then take a photo. I strive to maintain the three-dimensional look of those vintage Valentines. My collage-like greeting cards include most of the major holidays and life’s celebrations. In addition, I continue to expand my photography and linoleum-print cards.

Now, let’s get personal. Valentines don’t need to be all lovey-dovey with a partner in mind as the recipient. Maybe your sister, a neighbor, your Dad, or a best friend would love to receive one! The point of this workshop is to relax, have fun, and enjoy the season where saying ‘I love you’ to someone is just fine.”
