Dear WBON Members & Friends,

Greetings and welcome to March! As we wind down winter this month, it’s hard not to feel a little optimistic as the days get longer, the sun warms us, and we see signs of growth and rebirth in nature. Perhaps you will be using this revitalization to do some “spring cleaning” for your business. If so, there’s no better place to start than our 2017 Spring Conference!

WBON News

SPRING CONFERENCE. April 19 at Main Street Landing in Burlington, VT.

Early Bird Registration is now open for members! This year’s conference theme is “Thriving through Change” and we have some great speakers lined up to address all stages of your business’s growth, from start-up to succession planning.

We are excited to announce our keynote speakers! Annette Rexroad is a Vermont entrepreneur who has grown her company, Road Crew Crunch, from start-up through growth and eventual sale. Our afternoon keynote is Laurie-Ann Murabito, a seasoned leadership expert. Both women will have powerful stories to tell that will help you navigate the next steps for your business. As always, there will be ample opportunity for networking with fellow business owners, and plenty of food for thought from our speakers. Whether you are looking to get a nascent business off the ground, take your established business to the next level, or plan for your eventual departure from your business, this conference has something for you!

WELCOME ESSEX! Our brand new Essex chapter officially launched on February 23 and we are so excited to have our latest chapter up and running! Chapter coordinators Kristin Humbargar, Shelly Masson and Lisa Danforth are full of energy and great ideas for growing this chapter and bringing Essex-area woman-owned businesses into the spotlight. Head here to keep up-to-date on the next meeting. Remember that members can attend any chapter meeting for free, so the addition of the Essex chapter has expanded the education and networking opportunities for all of us.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! A few months ago, we told you about our hard-working WBON committees that keep WBON running behind the scenes. While board members make up the majority of our committees, members can also sit on committees and we are grateful for their time and expertise. Being part of a WBON committee is a great way to grow your network and professional skills while helping affect meaningful change for women business owners. Committees typically meet monthly via conference call in order to fit everyone’s busy schedule. Two committees looking for members include development (seeking financial support for WBON) and programs (planning WBON events such as our conferences and socials). Interested in this opportunity to build your expertise and enhance your visibility within the community? Email director@wbon.org to learn more.

Upcoming Chapter & Committee Meetings

March 28th. Essex Chapter - Networking Can Be Fun & Easy
Do you ever avoid networking events because you’re not quite sure how to network effectively? Go to an event only to find yourself talking with people you already know? Stumble over your words when someone asks you “So, what do you do?” Networking events really can be fun, easy, and an effective use of your time when you have a few conversational ‘tools’ in your toolbox (or back pocket/purse). Coach Lisa Danforth will share a few "use-right-now” tips and strategies to nudge us out of our comfort zone and confidently into the conversation.
