Vital Documents: What, Why & How

Are you waiting for the right moment to finally get your “important papers” in order? And just what does that mean?

Many of us have been personally impacted when a health crisis or an unexpected event occurs. We know we "should" have those sometimes difficult and emotional conversations and take the time to get our documents in order. We worry that we haven't yet done so.  Or maybe it just seems too time consuming and overwhelming. Life is already too busy!

Consider this: would your loved ones or business partners know how to access your key accounts, passwords and other crucial information? Everyone benefits when you get your (and your loved ones') vital documents handled and you talk with those who need to know your decisions and where to find your documents.

In this session Suzanne Lourie from Get It Done will guide us in an interactive discussion about vital documents and the related conversations, exploring:

  • is this really worth the time, effort and emotions,
  • the most important documents to have in place,
  • communication skills for beginning the conversation with our loved ones/business partners,
  • strategies to get these crucial documents completed, and
  • helpful resources to guide the process.

Suzanne Lourie is the owner of Get It Done, a professional organizing and productivity business that works with people at all stages and ages of life to declutter and set up custom organizational systems. Since we can count on life to bring us unexpected losses, helping clients get their Vital Documents in order is a particular passion. Suzanne loves to do what most of us want to avoid: gain control over clutter and find the right balance of how much we own in a culture that makes it easy to accumulate too much stuff. With a professional background as a clinical social worker and attorney, Suzanne brings a supportive and nonjudgmental approach along with plenty of humor to her work.
