    Burlington Chapter Meeting ~ October 21, 2015

Life is Too Short! Master the Art of Working Less and Making More So You Can HAVE a Life!

Facilitated Presenter: Heather Finley, Ph.D., Expert Guide to Peak Profits and Work-Life Balance

    Presentation Overview:

    * Do you want more time to enjoy the people you love?

    * Are you tired of working too hard for too little return?

    * Do you want your life to be about more than work?

If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, chances are high that you are out of balance and SOMETHING’S GOT TO GIVE!  And there is no time like the present to make some changes. The new currency is TIME. This concept is revolutionary in the history of entrepreneurship. Now, with a rapidly growing population of women business owners and with both men and women valuing quality time with families and prioritizing good health, it’s imperative that small business owners know how to earn profits without sacrificing their free time.

    During this training, you will:

        •               Gain clarity about your ideal work-life balance

        •               Discover a simple way to be more productive and reclaim 10-15 hours of free time EACH week.

Timing: October 27, 1-5 PM followed by drinks and conversation in the bar area.

    Location:  Hotel Vermont

    Theme: Evolution

    Evolution (or REVOLUTION?)

Every business goes through a cycle of birth, growth, change, adaptation and renewal. Along the way we need to shed some of our initial goals in order to grow into the business we ultimately wish to have. This can involve minor tweaking or major upheaval. Is your business just a kernel of an idea? Perhaps it is in the process of maturation? Is the going smooth or bumpy? Are you ready for a change? Learn how your fellow business women have managed the different steps of their business. As with every WBON gathering, there will be dedicated time for discussion, networking and education. And brownies. And wine.

Expand Your Network! Expand Your Ideas! In Half a Day!

    • Half-day interactive format for concise, effective education
    • Conversation about practical business issues
    • Engaging speakers

Participate in brief and interactive facilitated discussion at 3 roundtable sessions. Later regroup for actionable ideas, “aha” points and enlightening revelations.

    Our Speakers:

    Katy Lesser & Lucy Leriche!

Keynote: Katy Lesser founded Healthy Living Market and Café in 1986, without a shred of business training or experience.  Her tiny 1200 square foot health food store struggled for many years while she learned how to operate a business and while health foods moved from a hippie movement to a major natural foods industry.  Starting with one employee (herself) she now employs almost 300 people in two 35,000 square foot supermarkets.  And she has two partners; her son, Eli, and daughter, Nina who surprisingly joined the company!

Before Healthy Living, Katy was an English teacher, a stay at home mother, and a psychotherapist.  Her business journey has been one of boots-on-the-ground learning and she still considers herself in a steep learning curve!

Endnote: Lucy Leriche, of Hardwick, Vermont, is Deputy Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.  She was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives from 2005-2012 for Hardwick, Stannard, and Walden in Caledonia County: Assistant Majority Leader 2009-2010, and Majority Leader 2011-2012. She was a housing development and nonprofit organizational consultant, Director of Housing and Community Facilities Programs at the Vermont Community Loan Fund, and was Executive Director of the Lamoille Housing Partnership. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Johnson State College in 1989 (B.A Liberal Arts) and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University in 1993 (M.A. Interdisciplinary Humanities).  She has received numerous awards and honors and serves on several Boards and Commissions.
