Greetings from the Women Business Owners Network!

We hope everyone is having a good summer and have been able to squeeze in some rest & relaxation away from your busy businesses. The WBON team of directors, chapter coordinators and committee members have been happily at work behind the scenes…here are highlights of our work together:

2016 WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS NETWORK FALL CONFERENCE – SAVE THE DATE – Wednesday, October 19th 2016! The theme of this year’s full day conference is, “Telling Your Story”, and we’re happy to be back in central Vermont, in Montpelier, for the day. WBON has partnered with Change the story andthe Vermont Commission on Women to bring you the morning program, taking place in our Vermont Statehouse, in the beautiful and regal House Chamber. Following lunch, we'll continue through the afternoon with workshops and…more details to follow…Stay tuned!

BRAND NEW WEBSITE! You probably noticed this month’s newsletter looks a bit (well, ok, a lot) different in your inbox-- that’s because the newsletter follows the design of our brand new website!  Head over to www.wbon.org to check out our new look. We think you’ll agree that the new site better reflects our dynamic, diverse organization.

The WBON website team, with the help of Marketing Partners designed our new site with you in mind, to make your experience as a member easier and better. You will find:

  • More event photos to highlight our community of women business leaders
  • Better layout to help you find information more quickly
  • Crisp, modern design to attract new members and grow the connections and resources for you
  • Blog section highlighting timely content, and an opportunity for members to suggest blog entries

MEMBER PROFILES: This month we are profiling long-time member Merryn Rutledge who coaches leaders of all stripes through her business ReVisions,LLC.  This seasoned consultant and author found great tools through WBON when she was first starting out 22 years ago. WBON LEADERS: If you would like to take a more active role in leading and shaping WBON, now is the time to step up! Upcoming Chapter Meetings

August 8th
WBON’s Public Policy committee meets monthly to help address the need for the voice of women business owners in the public policy conversation in Vermont. Meetings take place at the offices of Marketing Partners, 176 Battery Street, Burlington on August 8th (second Monday of the month), at 4:00 PM. August 9th
Greater Waterbury Area Chapter – will be held at the Stowe Street Café, 29 Stowe Street in Waterbury, from 5:30 Pm - 7:00 PM.  Topic: Business Networking and Summer Celebration, hosted by Stowe Street Café and Bridgestone Books.  Click Here to Register

August 17th
Burlington Chapter - meetings are at Zen Garden in South Burlington from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. This month the topic will be "How to Make the Ask, Close the Deal", presented by Heather Wright of WrightJones, PLC and Pat Heffernan of Marketing Partners. Overview: Your prospect understands the pros and cons. They have a problem, and they know the service or product could solve it for them. You’ve established a connection. The budget is good to go and the time is right. Now all that’s left to do is close the deal. Click Here to Register

September 7th
Williston Chapter - held at the Williston Fire Station, Talcott Road, Williston, VT, from 8:30-10AM. This month’s TOPIC: “Understanding our Ancestral Patterns and Beliefs”, presented by Lisa Murdoch. Click Here to Register
