Riding the Wave of Change

Conference Keynotes

Monica Greene

President, Vermont Precision Tools, Inc

Monica Greene, the President and CEO of Vermont Precision Tools, Inc. (VPT), first took  the helm during the rough seas of organizational transition. Here is a little of her story...

In 1968, Norm Leduc and Ray Boutin, two Vermont Family men began their voyage with new business venture and a mission to provide for their families.

Prepared to weather the rough waters, unknown conditions and the occasional crew mutiny, they set course for their future. In 1996, an unexpected sailor was called upon to take the helm. Monica Greene -- the eldest daughter of Norm Leduc -- was promoted up the ranks during a significant ownership transition. As President, she took command within a very male dominated fleet.

Monica Greene became CEO of Vermont Precision Tools, Inc. (VPT), during the 2008 financial crisis, after the passing of her father. Monica believes that you may not be able to set the direction of the wind, or the force of the waves, but you can certainly adjust the sails to always reach your destination.

Under her leadership her woman-owned business has become the 11th largest manufacturer in Vermont and now has 3 facilities with 350 employees. Her company has been recognized by both the local and state Business and Professional Women’s organization as Employer of the Year. VPT was also recognized as the 2015 Vermont Small Business of the Year. Monica belongs to numerous state and local organizations and was recently appointed to the Vermont Workforce Development Board by Governor Scott.

Family is ever-present in her organization, working with both her siblings and her children. She resides in Grand Isle County with her husband of 33 years, enjoying beautiful Lake Champlain … where she can ride the waves just for the fun of it!
